Why Trikala?
The choice of the Municipality of Trikala was not random. The municipality has characteristics that make it ideal for a pilot deployment:
- Active SUMP — the mobility strategy is already defined; Novoville Mobility implements it digitally
- Manageable size — large enough to have a meaningful impact, small enough for fast feedback
- Digital culture — both the municipal authority and citizens are familiar with digital services
- Geographically suitable — flat terrain, ideal for cycling
- Existing cycling infrastructure — a bike lane network awaiting digital integration
What Will Change for Trikala Residents
Once the platform is activated, residents of Trikala will be able to use a single app to:
- Find and rent a Cyclopolis shared bike
- Buy a public transport ticket
- Plan a multimodal route (e.g. bike + bus)
- Earn green points for every sustainable trip
- Redeem points through the e-wallet
Next Steps
The Municipality of Trikala's onboarding involves activating a process that includes:
- Adapting the Mobility Template (D4.1) to the specific characteristics of Trikala
- Technical integration with the Cyclopolis and GMV systems
- Setting up the green points program in cooperation with the municipal authority
- Pilot operation as part of WP7.2
We expect Trikala to be one of the leading participants in the pilot phase (WP7) and a model for replicating the solution in other municipalities of similar size.
